Presentation Associates are women and men who

  • are committed to Gospel values

  • are attracted by Presentation charism and spirituality

  • wish to share more intensely in ministry as expressed in the spirit and life of the Presentation community through non-vowed association

  • welcome mutual opportunities for friendship, prayer, service, hospitality and celebration.

The Associate Movement is about charism rather than vocation. The issue of Associates is about breaking open the charism to share the ministry, so that religious and lay can work together collaboratively. It is authentic collaboration in that we mutually educate, inspire and develop the charism.

Today, often as a result of new situations, many institutes have come to the conclusion that their charism can be shared with the laity. The laity are therefore invited to share more intensely in the spirituality and mission of these institutes.

John Paul II Vita Consecrata S54, 1996

Over the past thirty years, the number of Associate groups and the diversity of their expression have increased markedly. As lay persons and members of religious congregations responded to Vatican Council II's invitation to renewal, interest was sparked in ways of living common charisms in different lifestyles and of establishing helpful connections between them.

As lay Associate programs have developed, questions surrounding issues of identity, purpose and boundaries have also developed... Whatever the result, what will remain important is that the Movement itself remains alive and energized for the good of its members, the institutes to which they are attached and the life of the Church.

Prayer for Presentation Associates and Sisters

God of Love and Life,
you have called us as Presentation Associates and Presentation Sisters
to live and proclaim the gospel with fidelity, joy and enthusiasm.
May we respond, like Nano, to the voice of the Spirit within each one of us,
so that through our mutual association,
we may be empowered to live the Presentation charism and mission
in our daily lives.

The Nano Nagle Prayer

Lord God,
You raise up people from age to age
to speak anew Your Word to us and to show us your ways.
Such is Nano Nagle.
In days when courage is needed,
You give us this woman of strength
to walk before us with conviction.
In days of great change, You present us with a prophet whose faith is firm.
As the light of her lantern brought hope
into the lives made wretched by poverty and oppression,
so may she inspire us to compassionate action for those in need around us.
