Hendriks, Indigenous Australian of the Nugi peoples
and Associate of the Presentation Sisters Queensland, attended
the Permanent
Forum on Indigenous Issues Third Session in New York. Joan
was a member of the Pacific Region Caucus and presented the
paper on Culture that had been prepared by that Caucus. (Joan
is pictured to the right with Sharon Altendorf behind her, at
the Indigenous Forum)
One side event on Indigenous Women: Culture and
Spirituality was led by Joan and Sr Jose Hobday
from Franciscans International, a Native American leader and
author, Seneca Iroquois and Seminole descent. This session was
sponsored by Franciscans International, UNANIMA International
and International Presentation Association.
